"Come on down and see if you can't unwind".......

I love reading the Blogs of my fellow co-workers! Reminds me why I like my job so much. In particular, I was reading Macro Maven's blog....(so professional!!) she has a link that I am diggin'

This is what I played with in class today.

If I wanted my penis enlarged, I'd go to my hotmail account.

MySpace might be a little to annoying for me. I'm all about meeting new people and making new friends, but when I created my own MySpace page "Kari" sent me an email wanting to know if I wanted to be her friend (and to buy an ipod from her). I felt so used. I was browsing through the band listings thinkin' I would have a little tune play and I noticed that on just about every other bands page there was a six paragraph comment from some "friend" talking about a great product for penis enlargement. When you clicked on the "friends" link....it would take you to some poor MySpace person that had to post a big "Im sorry if you got that message on your page- it isn't me!!" There is so much spam and so many flashing ads (the shave Britney Spears head is particularly memorable) that I never really know if I'm on my own page. My niece's and nephew LOVE myspace... but I think its a little scary. Do you have to be a certain age to sign up for a space? Year of birth: 1969, school: Bob's Middle School...I guess it could work in reverse too. Birth: 1995, School:ITT Tech. It seems like you would have to be a certain age if in your profile they ask you questions like "are you married? Sexual preference? Are you here to find a date?" I guess like all the parents out there I would be concerned that my 14 year old daughter or son was not talking to 13 year old Buffy from Alabama but 49 year old Mr. Creepy McCreeperton who lives in his grandma's basement. Okay...off the soapbox. I think this could be a great forum to meet new people and talk to your friends -see whats going on in the world. All the other stuff you have to put up with to do that is just too annoying for me.

This is what I learned (about myself) in class today.

I just gotta know!!!

I think it's easier for me to find the RSS "Standard Feed" box myself on my favorite websites rather than using a search tool. I seem to have a limited attention span lately and I get easily sidetracked with the suggested feeds. I can see how it would be beneficial to use the tools (especially when cheating on your 27things assignments).....I thought it was funny that in Bloglines some of the top listed picks for the day were library related. Good to see so many of my fellow employees doing their homework!
The question about RSS feeds that I have now is...I have noticed that in Outlook there is a folder in my mailbox that says "RSS feeds" it doesn't seem to do anything. hmmmmmm
I hope I can sleep tonight.

That is what I learned(or didn't) today.

I'll get right on that....after I read this article.

Okay, so I have completed the RSS feed thingy.....I can see how this is going to be dangerous to my productivity. I'll be working along...and then 'baloooop' (that's the sound I hear when an email comes in....My untrained musical ear hears baloooop) I am going to have to stop what I'm doing and read the newest post to my favorite website. I think I have 20 or so saved to my bloglines account....I work three hours a day...so if I get a new message every 15 minutes, that's......
heh heh heh...just kidding Jolene!

That is what I learned today

I'm a dawrk ellf but I'm good. I haff two thwards!!

I'm having a lot of fun playing with Flikr....I think my favorite is Retrievr. Not because I think that its accurate or anything-I like to draw a picture and then see all the kooky items come up that look nothing like what I drew. I know it's kind of hard to be exact with the little space and the mouse and all, but I don't know how the grey cat I drew looked anything like a red chili pepper on a plate.
The trading card thingy is pretty fun too...you can get kind of crazy with them. I was lookin' at another Bloggers page (a KCLS employee I believe) and he/she had made one of Conan the Librarian .....dang that's funny. I think the person that came up with the Trading Card Maker probably has done role playing games -Or as I learned recently from my husband "They are called R.P.G's" he said while licking the last bit of paste from the corners of his mouth. It's hard to eat paste while you are playing World of Warcraft. The N SYNC headset gets in the way.( I keeed....he knows I luv 'em!) Unfortunately no fairies or elves on my trading card. Mine is more like an inspirational pamphlet left on your doorstep by some well wishing (I say so not to offend anyone) cult. Or maybe a leaflet handed to you lovingly at the airport.

So this is what I came up with:
The photo was taken by my best gal friend Renee Vasquez ( reneephoto@hotmail.com shameless, shameless plug!- she is a great photographer! ). I think she took the picture while she was on vacation in France, but I never really got the whole story so she could have been on her way to France. Coming back from France? Eating French fries? I dunno. I have always liked the picture because it could be a positive, persistent 'but' or it could be a negative, arrogant or stubborn 'but'. Oddly enough, that is what I thought of this Jonathan Swift poem. He was pretty cynical, but I don't know exactly if every time man 'bends' it's necessarily a bad thing....whoahhhhh deeeewwwwwd... (deep) so naturally the two went together for me.

And that is what I learned in class today.

There hasn't been any explosions or cursing. I haven't even once had to have my husband come and "show me how to do this" . I guess that is a great start.
