All my eggs in one basket

I like Zoho. It is really easy to use. I need that. I also like Google Docs. I think that I will probably only use Google Docs though....I already have the log in. Wow, I don't really have anything to say about them....I see myself using the spreadsheets for home and work er and my work at home. So I think I will just insert a cute picture.

Just the tip of the iceberg

The word "technolust" was used. I like that word. I think I have it. It kind of sounds like a bad thing though.
Libraries are the hub of information. If there is technolust going on out there in the world, then the library needs to know.
I recently heard someone making a statement regarding the gaming devices that can be checked out...and "how is that a good for our kids". I like the idea that kids have a safe place to go and hang out....imagine while a kid is waiting for his turn on the Nintendo he sees a book on Neurological Biochemistry, checks it out, reads it , finds a cure for ...eh....brain stuff...and then wins the Nobel prize for science. All before he is even 18!!!
Libraries are about community.....community-world wide web.....I totally see the connection.

There was a 'chilling' sentence I read in the "Ice Bergs" article (d'oh..that one was bad)... It was in the paragraph about the "just in case" collections:
In my library, we’ve seen a 55 percent drop in circulation rates over the past twelve years, making it harder and harder to justify the continued buildup of a large “just in case” print collection.
Yikes....I like my computer...but there is nothing like curling up with a book.

'Rollyo'ut the barrel...

Sorry, it was either that or Rollyour own.

I am doing a couple of paintings fer some people that have a 'Pin Up' theme...I tend to do a lot of these paintings. I don't have live models (and the dead ones don't last that long) so I need to get references online. I usually look for old Hollywood pictures because the poses were more dramatic. I try to stay away from other "pin up" artists ...cuz well, that would be copying. I thought that I would apply lesson #18 of
kcls27things to my dilemma
I played around on Rollyo(ur own tee hee hee). I found it to be a little slow. Slow and red. I then tried Google....AWWWW Google...never lets me down. The first thing I noticed in the Google "make your own" is how there seems to be a wider search. On the very first page of the KCLS engine....there were references to other libraries that fit my search criteria....I realize that key words are plugged in when you sign up- it's just that Google seemed hipper....Here is a better example (than the mindless garbling I have been doing)...
My search engine is "Art References"....my key words were "Pin Up", "Old Hollywood" and "cowboys and Indians" (I do a lot of those paintings too- just in case you were wondering what Cowboys and Indians have to do with Pin Ups)....so Google search brought up Betty Page. Betty Page is a precise reference. Betty Page isn't one of my key words. Oh Lord, does this make any sense...or am I just in a typing delirium.
Long and short of it:

Rollyo= Red
Google= Good.

Betty Page= Good

Forget the pea, how far below sea level are we?

Some people like to sleep on or nearer to the floor. I am not one of those people. I want to "get up in to bed"....I also want to "go up to bed" so I have always wanted a bedroom on the second floor. I used to have a beautiful antique panel style bed. I moved it to vacuum cat hair underneath it one day and when I went to move it back - I broke it. I broke it beyond repair. Currently our mattress and box spring is resting on the floor. Although I have a bunch of 'things' in my bedroom that could be considered harem-ey, I still feel that with my bed on the floor I am sleeping in a bohemian love den. Its funny how a few feet off the ground can make such a big difference. From patchouli, pot smoke, and Peter Tosh to fragrance candles, fresh spring air and Grieg's "Peer Gynt" http://www.mnc.net/norway/morning.mid. I'm not saying that my bedroom before my bed broke was like a "Bounce" commercial, I'm just saying that if I opened my bedroom window, closed my eyes and sprayed enough febreeze the altitude of my bed being higher made me feel like I was sleeping like a princess. So where is all of this going? Since I can't have a bedroom on the second floor, I put a bed on layaway. A beautiful Gothic revival, turn of the century, tiger maple, panel style bed. There is an antique store in Centralia, Washington that is the greatest antique furniture store I have ever been to. The owners refinish all of the furniture themselves and do an amazing job. Then they let poor slobs like myself lay it away. I'm hoping to have my bed by early this summer so I can once again pretend to be a princess .

It looks a little "Dracula-esque" in the picture, but they are gonna refinish it for me. Up the Creek Antiques http://www.amerantfurn.com/

Bling of Knowledge

AWWWWWWW Yeah Boiiii......Wiki, Wiki Wiki ...
The party line of knowledge. Sometimes.
Sometimes you have to remember that what is being posted is not necessarily fact...but can be opinion and personal experience that wont pertain to you. Scoot up the soapbox kids I have a little story to tell. Kids? Kids? Hey...where are you going?
A great thing about Wikis', they can be corrected if you have an attentive group.
It's like that, and thats the way it is.
You know, it's tricky to rock a rhyme....
My little Run DMC tribute

Did I say O.C.D.? I think I meant A.D.D.

I like LibraryThing . It brings out the O.C.D. in me. Scanning the bookshelves in my office ( sounds like such a pretentious word for 'back bedroom with shelves, music gear and computer' - but is so much easier to say) I want to add EVERYTHING....the Pogo children's books from 19-er something, the Anne Rice books..Even the Peanuts cartoon catalog that my husband has been collecting since he was a kid. He has this thing for Snoopy. When he was a little boy he had a plastic snoopy mask that he loved. He would wear it all the time with a blanket tied around his neck for a cape (like you do). He became SUPER SNOOPY...then one sad day, the puppy that he had just got- chewed up his snoopy mask. I don't think that he has ever fully recovered....Shiny thing.....little off the topic.

OOOOO Shiny Things!

I'm not sure how "cool" the Technorati search bar is going to be in my blog-'cuz I haven't written all that much. But I like how it sparkles in the sunlight.

These are a few(million) of my favorite things.....

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens..Bright copper ket---D'oh. So, Del.icio.us is De.Lovely, De lightful and from the mouth of Lady Kier "It's Dee-Groovy" Apparently I have too many favorites saved...can't seem t'find anything cuz I gots so many. Del.icio.us is a lovely way to keep track of my online stuff. Could I be anymore descriptive? Apparently I still have "These are a few of my favorite things" running through my head.
